Over seven years working as a software engineer in Silicon Valley, Will Hohyon Ryu found himself thinking deeply about data-based decision making and the question of how to create a corporate culture that isn’t dependent on power dynamics. He went on to write the books Silicon Valley Illustratedand Self-motivated Professionals Make the Best Company (translated titles), which provide an introduction to Silicon Valley and the decision-making structures of Silicon Valley companies, respectively. He started his own company, OXOpolitics Inc., as a means to apply his insights on data-based, non-power-based decision-making to the sphere where the most important decisions are made: politics.

We are living in a time of confirmation bias, filter bubbles, and personalized media, all of which enable us to hear only what we want to hear. This is posing challenges for politics around the world. Will Hohyon Ryu is dedicated to addressing the challenges created by modern technology by working with others to find solutions that are also powered by technology but rooted in the humanities.
