SDF (SBS D Forum) is a knowledge-sharing project and major corporatesocial responsibility initiative of South Korean broadcaster SBS.The aim of SDF is to engage in and encourage inquiry and deliberationto help shape the public discourse and guide reflection on the valuesthat we need to guide us through changing times into the future.
Every year, a theme is chosen for SDF that reflects the most critical issues we face as a society. We explore solutions to such issues through the diverse lenses of politics, society, culture, and art and ask the questions that are necessary for change.
Leading local and international speakers take to the stage at SDFevery year to share their insights and engage with our audience.
An annual joint research project is conducted with experts in various fields. In addition to addressing issues being raised by civil society,we propose bold solutions for change in our existing systems and institutions on the back of in-depth research.
I was selective about where I chose to speak on each continent, and in Asia I decided to speak at the SBS D Forum. It was all held very professionally!

I’m thankful to have been a part of a meaningful process of fostering public dialogue ahead of the presidential elections, at a time when more active debate about policies was especially needed I was lucky to be able to witness quality journalism from up close.

At an increasingly challenging and complex time, it is important to pool our collective wisdom, and SBS D Forum proved itself to be a promising platform for that purpose. I hope it will continue to play an important role.

By being open to the imagination of artists, which isn’t always an easy thing to understand, you have contributed to saving the world. SDF perfectly embodies the spirit of engagement and cooperation. You have gone beyond introducing art through your program and actually made your program a work of art. If that’s not progress for human society, I don’t know what is.
